Barolo of Cantine Veglio comes from
vineyards facing South-East in the municipalities of Serralunga d'Alba, Castigliole Falletto, Monforte d’Alba. Limited production old vineyards, just 4 grapes for each vine stock, they produce a garnet red Barolo, with ethereal, pleasant and intense fragrance which reminds of withered rose and violet. It has a dry, full-bodied, austere but delicate and harmonious taste. It is made through traditional fermentation and it macerates for 10 days in steel casks.
Drawn off, decanted twice before Christmas, it matures in French oak casks for 2/4 years. After that it is poured in bottle and stands in bottles for a few months before being commercialized. This wine doesn’t undergo modern enological practises. It is longevous and can keep for over 20 years but it is perfect after 5/7 years of ageing in bottles. These characteristics are due to the soil: clay, sand, fine ground in equal quantities together with macro and micro mineral elements, combined with a particular microclimate and the correct cultivation techniques, in the respect of the environment.
